My focus: Intellectual property law with an emphasis in patent, copyright, trademark and unfair competition litigation
Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) with honors, Columbia University School of Law, 1995; B.S. Electrical Engineering, magna cum laude, Texas A&M University, 1984
About Me: Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, I have been litigation counsel in patent infringement cases involving video game technology, cellular telephone technology, telecommunications circuits, medical devices, selective laser sintering materials, dental materials and instruments, exercise devices and oil well drilling technology. I have also handled litigation matters involving trademark infringement, right of publicity, copyright infringement, unfair competition and theft of trade secrets. I have extensive experience in federal courts and agencies throughout the United States. I’ve also been involved in other intellectual property non-litigation matters such as patent and trademark prosecution, technology licensing and counseling clients on intellectual property matters.
Prior to law school, I developed more than ten years of industry experience in computer system design, computer software development, and the design and manufacture of semiconductor integrated circuits, such as microprocessors and memory devices. I have also developed and founded companies specializing in computer security products, data encryption technology and intellectual property portfolio management.
*I have my own law practice, Heptig Law Group, Ltd., and I team with Greenfield where it best serves the client’s interests to do so. I have successfully teamed with Greenfield IP partner Dave Bohrer on numerous IP litigations. I am a long-time resident of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, which is also the location of my office.
